What can I expect?

Prepare to escape 2020 as we bring you the classic Drive-In experience with a Secret Cinema twist. We have a memorable night full of entertainment planned, starting the moment you arrive with Frankie and Johnny Starlight’s Original Travelling Drive-In. Get ready for an exceptionally fun day or evening out enjoying much loved classics and the biggest blockbusters.

How will it work?

On arrival, our team will check your tickets, respecting social distancing guidelines, and provide you with a JBL portable speaker, which has been sanitised for your use.

After the safety briefing, sit back, relax and enjoy 30-minutes of entertainment by Frankie and Johnny Starlight and their travelling cinema. Order food and drinks via our online platform from a menu inspired by the much-loved American Diner, featuring Goodwood’s own organic produce and a specially curated selection of luxury ice cream from our friends at Häagen-Dazs. This will be delivered to your car by our extended family of waiters who will also respect social distancing guidelines.

What COVID-19 safety measures have been taken?

Our guests and our team’s safety is our primary concern at the Drive-In. You will find an overview of the COVID-19 measures we will implement COVID Safety statement. These include social distancing for both guests and staff, regular cleaning of all facilities, contact-free food and beverage orders online, as well as socially distanced deliveries. You will also be reminded of the mandatory safety measures via email and on-screen. With the exception of trips to the bathroom, we ask you to stay inside of your car and keep the windows closed. If you drive a convertible, please close the roof before you enter the Drive-In site and keep it closed until after you have left.

Update 26th June 2020: following government guidance published in late June, you may open your windows and drive a convertible car with the roof down at the Drive-In, however please bear in mind that there may be noise and sound bleed from the surrounding areas. We recommend to open windows facing the empty lane next to your car, only. Please respect other guests and continue to check this page for updates as government guidance may change ahead of your attendance.

How many people are allowed in my car?

All tickets are Standard entries for 1 car with up to 5 passengers per car and you will be asked to confirm the number of passengers during checkout. Tickets are limited to 1 per ticket type per transaction. If you would like to book additional tickets, you are able to process a second order for the same day or another day. For optimised viewing we recommend 2 passengers per car as visibility may not be ideal in the back seats of smaller cars.

When are the screenings and how much are tickets?

Ticket prices start at £50 (+ bkg fees) per car for off-peak tickets. Screening times vary by weekday, so please check carefully when booking. Gates open 45 minutes before the start of the event and arrival times will be staggered in the 45 minutes before start. The ticket buyer will receive an email with further details on their allocated time.

Are there restrictions on the size of my car?

To keep the Drive-In safe and fun for everyone, the following vehicle restrictions apply.

  • Not permitted are:
  • Bicycles
  • Motorcycles or scooters
  • Convertibles without roof
  • Cars with trailer attachments
  • Minibuses (7+ seats)
  • Buses
  • Caravans
  • Long wheelbase vans
  • HGVs

Do you offer discounts for NHS Staff?

We sure do! NHS Staff get a 50% discount on tickets subject to availability. If you book an NHS ticket, you will need to show your staff pass at check-in in order to gain access to the Drive-In. For details on how to book a free companion ticket, please see the Accessibility section.

Are all screenings suitable for me/can I bring my child?

Each screening has its own age rating, ranging from U (Universal) to 18. Please check that the screening you are booking is suitable for all guests before you book. For further details on the UK age classifications please visit the BBFC website. If you are fortunate enough to appear young for your age, please make sure you bring appropriate photo ID for all age restricted films to avoid disappointment.

Screenings

Can I buy food and drinks at the Drive-In?

Hot and cold food, as well as soft and alcoholic beverages will be available to buy at the Drive-In events. Menus and availability may vary by session and all orders will be taken via an online order system. The Drive-In Häagen-Dazs ice cream trolley will accept card payments on the day. Further details on the order mechanism will be sent via email to the ticket buyer before your attendance.

Will the Drive-In take place in bad weather?

Yes! The Drive-In events are designed to be enjoyed from the comfort of your own car and will take place in bad weather. Please dress in weather-appropriate clothing and feel free to bring a blanket or cushions. To prevent a flat battery, avoid using your lights, heating, or air conditioning for the full duration of the screening.

How will I hear the film?

We will provide you with a JBL portable speaker for your car on arrival at the Drive-In. You will hand these back to a member of staff at the end of the screening to be sanitised after the session.

Are there toilets or washrooms?

Bathrooms are available at the Drive-In and operate with social distancing measures. Please only leave your car if you need to use the bathroom, avoid leaving the car in groups, and queue at 2-metre intervals. Only parents accompanying a young child or a companion accompanying a vulnerable person may leave their car in a group of 2. Changing facilities for babies are available.

Do I need to wear PPE?

Our team will be wearing their biggest smiles under a face covering to keep them safe at work and we encourage you to follow the government’s guidelines regarding PPE for public spaces to help us maintain high safety standards at the Drive-In events.

Can I open my car window(s)?

In the interest of your safety, please only open your car window on the right hand side of the car when needed. If you would like to get hold of a member of our team in a non-emergency, please use your hazard or indicator lights to attract their attention.

Planning your journey

What happens if I am late?

We will allocate you an arrival time between 15 and 45 minutes before the start of the event to ensure that you have time to park and settle-in before the event starts. If you arrive later than the latest arrival time (15 minutes before for your screening start time, for instance, 18:45 for a 19:00 start), you may miss the mandatory Drive-In safety briefing and will not be allowed to enter.

How are parking spots allocated?

For a swift check-in experience, we ask that you arrive in your allocated arrival slot and follow the instructions from our Front of House team on arrival to your parking spot which are allocated based on the size of your car.

TIPS, TRICKS, AND HANDY INFORMATION

Can I use my phone/camera at the Drive-In?

Yes, you are able to use your phone during the Drive-In experience, however, if you are seen recording the film or the performance, our staff will ask you to delete all footage immediately and confiscate the device. Your device will be returned to you at the end of the screening.

Can I bring an animal to the Drive-In

With the exception of guide animals, unfortunately we cannot admit any animals.

Am I allowed to smoke?

Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is not permitted outside of your car. If you choose to smoke, please ensure that this will not affect fellow Drive-In attendees.

What are the payment methods?

All payments for food and drinks must be made online via the order app. Only the Häagen-Dazs ice cream trolley will accept card payments on the day.

Can I attend without a car?

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate guests without cars at the event. Car rental or car share services operate widely in the UK and you will find a service near your home if you are keen to join us.
